The Roots Project is a weekly invite only, non-drop-off space for home educating families to come together, explore and create. It’s not a school or a club, but a flexible environment where children follow their interests, through zones for art, gaming, cooking, outdoor play, science and more. Every session is shaped by curiosity, conversation and community.
Parents stay, siblings mix, and learning happens naturally whether it’s making boba tea, building dens, or simply connecting over shared passions. Roots grows with your child, offering freedom, friendships and fun without pressure.

Each session is built around what excites the children, not what fits a standard. Whether it’s Pokémon, Japanese culture, foraging, or space, they lead the way and we build the day around their interests.

We blend creativity with useful skills through workshops that matter. From boba tea making to YouTube editing, mechanics, carpentry, and science shows, we open doors to passions and future possibilities.

We host proms, trips, themed days, and showcases that give home educated children the memories they deserve. Roots creates spaces where milestones, laughter, and connection feel natural and valued.

Roots is designed for children and their grown ups. There are areas to relax, join in, or take a breather. Whether you're helping with a session or simply enjoying a quiet moment, you're part of the community.
At Home Educators, we believe in a philosophy of making education more engaging, inclusive, and tailored to each child’s unique needs. Discover the joy of interactive learning with resources that are flexible, adaptable, and created by experienced home educators.

Roots is a welcoming space for home educating families to connect, explore, and grow together. Sessions run every Monday at Langham Hall in Billericay, with flexible drop-in times between 11am and 4pm.
Each session is £12.50 per child with a £25 family cap, and includes full access to all zones, resources, activities, and our exclusive workshops/trips.

A space for creative expression through painting, crafting, sensory materials, and collaborative projects. Children are encouraged to make, explore, and experiment using a wide range of open ended resources.

This zone changes each session based on the group’s interests. From history and culture to science and storytelling, children dive into themed topics through strewing, tuft trays, and hands on materials.

Play board games, build in Minecraft, or challenge a friend on the Switch. This zone offers screen time with purpose, turn taking, strategy, and shared fun in a relaxed environment.

From preparing snacks to sensory baking, this zone supports food confidence in a relaxed space. Children can chop, mix, pour, and taste while learning practical and playful kitchen skills.

Soft mats, dress up clothes, building blocks, and space to just be. This zone supports unstructured play and imaginative exploration, especially helpful for younger or neurodivergent learners.

Enjoy water play, outdoor loose parts, gardening, and fresh air. The nature zone encourages movement and connection with the environment in a gentle, self paced way.
